New Gifts for Drummers (2026)

I keep a main gift guide of the things I own and have used for years. This page is the new stuff for drummers: gear that came out recently, plus new books and records worth wrapping. If you're shopping for a drummer this year, start here.
Shopping for someone who builds drums? Those picks have their own page: new gifts for drum builders.
Each pick shows a rough price range, since prices move around a lot before the holidays.
Heads up: many product links on this page are Amazon affiliate links. If you buy through one, I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Full FTC disclosure here.
Electronics and hybrid kits
Sensory Percussion
$500 and up. This is what everyone is talking about in hybrid drumming. Sensors clip onto a real acoustic kit and tell the center, edge and rim apart, so each part of the head can trigger a different sound.
Evans Hybrid Sensory Percussion bundle
Yamaha EAD50
$500 and up. New this year. It sits on the kick drum and combines a mic, a trigger module, a mixer and multitrack recording in one unit, so an acoustic kit becomes a recording and hybrid rig with no extra setup.
Roland SPD-SX Pro
$500 and up. The upgrade to the SPD-SX in my main gift guide: more memory, more outputs, and bigger screens. It's the sampling pad you see on most big stages.
Ludwig Total Percussion Multi-Pad
$500 and up. Ludwig's new multi-pad, shown at NAMM 2026: nine pads and thousands of built-in sounds. It's a real alternative to the Octapad.
Alesis Strata Club
$500 and up. Alesis's flagship sound engine in a kit small enough for an apartment.
EFNOTE Mini
$500 and up. The splurge. A compact kit with an optical hi-hat, cymbals that sense where they're hit, and 8-channel audio over USB. It plays more like an acoustic kit than anything its size.
Roland TD-02KV
$500 and up. The most affordable Roland kit with a mesh snare. A good first kit, or a quiet practice kit for a drummer whose neighbors have had enough.
Senstroke
$100 to $500. Bluetooth sensors that strap onto the sticks and feet so you can play air drums on any surface through an app. It's silent practice you can do anywhere.
Upgrades for the kit
Tama Cobra Clutch
$100 to $500. A drop clutch that lets you switch the hi-hats between closed and open with your foot, mid-song. Once you've used one, it's hard to go back.
Meinl HCS Smack Stack
$100 to $500. Three thin cymbals stacked together for that short, trashy stack sound. An affordable way to find out whether they'll love a stack.
Zildjian FX Stack
$100 to $500. The premium version. The mount lets you loosen or tighten the pair to tune how trashy it sounds.
Snareweight M80
$25 to $100. A leather flap that sits on the snare head. Flip it on and off, or adjust it, for four levels of dampening. Made in the USA, and much tidier than tape.
Pearl Eliminator Redline 25th Anniversary
$500 and up. A limited-edition version of the Eliminator in satin black with gold accents, with four swappable cams. It's limited, so if you see one, grab it.

Tama Dyna-Sync double pedal
$500 and up. A direct-drive double pedal that drummers talk about constantly online. Fast, smooth and not cheap.
Evans dB One low-volume pack
$500 and up. Heads and cymbals that bring an acoustic kit down to about apartment volume, so you can still practice on real drums. You can buy the cymbal pack on its own.

Practice, lessons and recording
Offworld Invader V3 practice pad
$25 to $100. A cult-favorite practice pad with swappable surfaces that feel more like a real drum than rubber does.
RTOM Moongel Workout Pad
$25 to $100. A gel surface with very little bounce, so your hands have to do all the work. Ten minutes on this and a real snare feels easy.
Vic Firth Heavy Hitter Slimpad
$25 to $100. A hard pad with a rim, and a feel close to a marching snare. It's great for building chops, and the rim lets you practice rimshots.
Heavy Hitter Slimpad on Amazon
Soundbrenner Pulse or Core 2
$100 to $500. A metronome you wear on your wrist that vibrates the beat instead of clicking it. It works anywhere, even on a loud stage.
A Drumeo gift card
$100 to $500. Drumeo is the biggest online drum-lesson platform, and the gift card comes as a physical card for three months or a year. It also unlocks Musora's guitar, piano and singing lessons.
Melodics
$100 to $500. Game-style lessons that work with any MIDI kit or pad controller. Great for someone who finds practicing boring.
Mike Johnston's MikesLessons
$100 to $500. Mike Johnston is one of the best drum teachers online, and a membership includes his weekly live Q&A.
BeatBuddy 2
$100 to $500. A drum machine in a guitar pedal. It's aimed at guitarists, but it's handy for a drummer who plays with loops or backing parts.
Zoom H4essential recorder
$100 to $500. It records in 32-bit float, which in plain English means loud drums won't clip. Set it up in the corner at practice and every take is usable.
Shure PGA drum mic kit
$100 to $500. A complete drum mic kit with mounts and a case. The 5-mic version covers kick, snare and toms; the 7-mic version adds overheads.

Behringer P2 in-ear amp
$25 to $100. A tiny amp that clips to the stand so you can hear the mix in your in-ears at gigs. It's cheap and it just works.
DrumDial tuner
$25 to $100. A dial gauge that sits on the head and reads the tension at each lug. It's an easy way to get every lug even, and a good alternative to the Tune-Bot.
Hearing protection and bags
Etymotic ER20XS earplugs
Under $25. Musicians' earplugs that turn everything down evenly, so the kit still sounds like the kit. Every drummer should have a pair in the stick bag.
Eargasm High Fidelity earplugs
$25 to $100. Low-profile silicone plugs with removable filters. They're comfortable for a long gig and come in a nice case.
Gruv Gear Club Bag
$100 to $500. A backpack built for gigging musicians, with room for sticks, in-ears and a laptop. It's much nicer than a stick bag plus a backpack.
Drumeo Comfort Cover
$100 to $500. A padded cover that makes any throne comfortable, for a lot less than a new throne.
Books, vinyl and things for the wall
Ghost Notes by Rikki Rockett
$25 to $100. The Poison drummer's memoir, out this summer.
The Drums by Mike Joyce
$25 to $100. The Smiths' drummer tells his side of the story. It was a Times Book of the Year in 2025.
The Other Side of the Dream by Clem Burke
$25 to $100. Blondie's drummer finished this shortly before he died in 2025. A great one for anyone who grew up on punk and new wave.

Stewart Copeland's Police Diaries
$25 to $100. Copeland's actual diary pages from the early Police years, with flyers and photos nobody had seen before. Buy it from the publisher; it costs more than twice as much on Amazon.
Stick Control
Under $25. If they don't have it, they need it. George Lawrence Stone's book has been the snare drummer's workout for almost a hundred years.
Rush 2112 50th anniversary liquid vinyl
$25 to $100. The record is filled with black liquid that moves as it spins, and you can see it through a die-cut cover. For the Neil Peart fan.

Zildjian cymbal wall clock
$100 to $500. A real 13" Zildjian cymbal (a factory second) turned into a wall clock. It's perfect for the practice room.

Rolife 3D wooden drum kit puzzle
Under $25. A laser-cut wooden drum kit you build in an evening and keep on the shelf. Fun for kids and grown-up drummers alike.

A custom drummer caricature
$25 to $100. Send an artist a photo of them behind the kit and get back a caricature you can print and frame. Etsy has plenty of artists who do these.
A drum camp
$500 and up. Give them a promise in a card. Drum Fantasy Camp opens registration for next year in January, and Mike Johnston runs camps at his studio in California throughout the year.

Under $25. Made in Utah from broken cymbals, so no two are the same. It comes as a wallet card, a keychain or a dog tag.
Cymbal bottle openers from Full Circle
Drumstick pens
Under $25. Wooden pens shaped like drumsticks, for the drummer who taps on every desk anyway.
Gorilla Snot

A Zildjian keychain or ornament
Under $25. Tiny Zildjian cymbals on a keychain or for the tree.
Gibraltar pocket multi-tool
Under $25. A drum key, screwdrivers, Allen keys and a bottle opener that fold into one tool. It covers most fixes in the middle of a gig.

Cymbal cleaner and Moongel
Under $25. Groove Juice cleans cymbals with far less scrubbing, and Moongel is the little gel pads every drummer ends up using to cut ring. For the full kit, MusicNomad makes a drum and cymbal care set.
